Maine Saltwater Fly and Light Tackle Fishing Reports 2014 by Coastal Fly Angler

Here at the Maine Striper Fishing Blog, There will be no more talk about winter, as its time to move forward to fishing!!! what ever way you bring the new season in,  either by checking out  one of
tackle show and casting new rods or buying a plane ticket to the FL Keys to get on the water. Either way the energy for the up coming season seems to contiguous and full of energy as emails come in for either fishing the Keys or Striper season here in Maine the excitement builds, For me when the post season ski races are a thing of the past, I head over to see Peter Smith and Tim at SS Flies for a visit, lunch and plan some skinny water striper fishing back in Maine, also to pick up flies I have them work up over the winter Permit and Tarpon patterns. Then dodge a snow storm and head to the FL keys with flats skiff in tow. on the fishing front there is not much I really miss about Maine until the striper show other than the LL Bean and the Eldridge Bro fly shop shows. I have missed these every year other the year my twin girls where born 9 years ago, but like to keep up with the line up and this year LL-Bean brought in a angler who I have learned a ton from Andy Mill his books and films are ever educational, but the best nugget of knowledge came last spring while sitting at a bar in the lower Keys where where the discussion was on fishing the worm hatch and fishing worm patterns in the weeks leading up to the event, his advice was a game changer!!  Andy has a talk at LL BEAN on Saturday the 15 Th. if you are into skinny water fishing and in Maine he's a must see!!!

Casco Bay Stripers and the Maine saltwater fishing season is not to far off and we are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new anglers!! Starting this spring there will be a new reports project that  Capt Mike and I will be hosting, this is very cool and we look forward to sharing it with you, we also hope you become  engaged as in the past and keep the great questions and comments coming!!! For those of you working out your travel plans, I can be a day or so getting back to you during Tarpon season - long days on the poling platform in the sun,and a cold rum drinks, Ok no excuses I will get back ASAP and we can lock in your tides.
